AUSTIN ALPHA HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD



I. INTRODUCTION
Scholarship and academic excellence are central to the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., as reflected in the history and founding purpose of the Fraternity. Aligned with this mission, The Austin Alpha Foundation (AAF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1983, has awarded scholarships to college-bound high school seniors in the Austin area for over 30 years. These efforts are made possible through volunteer fundraising and the solicitation of individual and corporate donations.
To continue fostering academic achievement among local youth, the Austin Alpha Foundation is excited to announce the 2025 Austin Alpha Foundation High School Scholarship Award. This scholarship will be awarded to graduating high school seniors from the Austin area, with scholarships ranging from $500 to $3,000. Please review the information below for eligibility and submission requirements.
II. SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Eligible applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:
1. Be a graduating male attending an Austin-area High School
2. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale
3. Submit a completed scholarship application packet
III. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
All completed application packets must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than April 11, 2025. Each application packet must include the following to be considered:
1. A completed typed scholarship application
2. A typed personal statement addressing each of the following criteria (at least 500 words):
a. A brief biography about yourself
b. A description of your college academic and future career ambitions
c. A statement of why you should be considered for this scholarship
➔ Your personal statement will be judged on its clarity, creativity and originality.
3. A copy of an official high school transcript with GPA and RANK, SAT & ACT Scores.
4. A letter of recommendation demonstrating the applicant’s character and commitment to academic success.
5. FAFSA confirmation page or SAR (Student Aid Report) showing estimated family contribution.
