As a result of participating in the Leadership Development Institute, young men of color will be:
- More self-aware and will increase their confidence in their personal lives and their leadership journey (Leadership)
- Better positioned to graduate high school and succeed in their post-secondary educational pursuits (Education)
- Empowered to be responsible and engaged in their community (Citizenship)
Young men of color from all high schools in greater Austin and surrounding areas will be recommended by their school officials or community members and invited to participate in our Leadership Development Institute.. Students and parents will be required to sign required membership and consent (registration, media, course content) forms to participate in the Leadership Development Institute. Students will be expected to participate and be engaged throughout the program period. Membership in the Leadership Development Institute is reviewed annually. Students will be required to pay a nominal membership fee at the start of fall semester of the junior and senior years.
Young men of color will be selected based on their socio-economic status, recommendations from school and community supporters, and their academic and professional goals. A completed application is required for all participants.
